ATH System Integration

About ATH

Network engineer and systems integrator, based in Myanmar.

I am a network engineer and systems integrator working in Myanmar, building networks, servers and security systems for small offices, educational clients and businesses.

Most jobs arrive looking the same way: a system exists, nobody wrote anything down, nobody remembers why it was configured as it was, and when something breaks there is no obvious place to start. The work is fixing that situation and making sure it does not come back.

How the work is run

The plan is written before hardware is ordered — including what will NOT be done, which is what keeps scope from creeping.

Versions are pinned. Firmware, packages and images are not left on "latest": a rebuild has to produce the same system.

Security checks live in a checklist that is run against every installation, rather than depending on memory.

Testing happens before handover. The backup gets restored, the VPN gets tested from outside, the wireless gets walked.

Unfinished items live on paper rather than in my head, each recorded with the point at which it becomes blocking.

Why it is done this way

Much of IT service in Myanmar runs reactively — fix it when it breaks. Without documentation, when a person leaves, the knowledge leaves with them.

Every system I build is built on the assumption that someone else will take it over. That is the right outcome for the client: nobody should be permanently dependent on the person who installed their network.
